Abram (Abraham) was seventy five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife Sarai, Lot, his brother's son, and “...the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came” (Genesis 12:5). Genesis 12:7: “And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land ....”“And when Abram was ninety and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name anymore be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee . . .. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God” (Genesis 17:1– 8).
Jacob (Israel) was Abraham's grandson and inherited the land God gave to Abraham and his descendants. Jacob is the progenitor of the Jewish people. His twin Esau despised his birthright and sold it to Jacob. Esau is the progenitor of the Arabs. Although of the seed of Abraham, he has no inheritance with Jacob (Genesis 25:29–34) “.... And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.”
In Hebrews 12:16 we find Esau was a profane person. “Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.” In Malachi 1:2, 3: “. . . Was not Esau Jacob's brother? Saith the Lord, yet I loved Jacob and I hated Esau.”
God revealed to Abram (Abraham) his descendants would serve for 400 years in a land not theirs and they would return after the fourth generation to the land of Canaan (Genesis 15:16).
When Israel returned to the homeland after 400 years in Egypt the land west of the Jordan River was given by lot to nine and a half tribes. Two and a half tribes were given the land between the Jordan River and the Euphrates River.
In 70 A.D. Israel was dispersed into the nations of the world after Jerusalem was destroyed. After World War II, in 1948 Israel became a nation in a tiny part of their homeland.
Now Israel's enemies (like the Nazis) are using “The Big Lie” scheme. Over and over (adnauseam) we hear, “Israel is occupying our land.” The fact is they (the descendants of Jacob's evil twin Esau) are the ones trying to occupy Israel's land.
The land belonging to Israel has definite borders:
West border:
River of Egypt up the coast to Hamath.
North border:
East from Hamath to the river Euphrates.
East border:
Down the Euphrates River to the Persian Gulf.
South border:
West from the Persian Gulf to the river of Egypt. In Genesis 15:18, “...the Lord made a covenant with Abraham saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.”
In Numbers 34:1–15, the areas for the nine and a half and the two and a half tribes are described.
When Israel became a nation in 1948, they came home. The Owner of the Universe promised he would “settle them after their old estates” and he would do better by them than when they were first given their homeland Ezekiel 36:11: “And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.” Notice it says God would be the one to “settle” them after their old estates.
Chapters 35 and 36 of Ezekiel give us a picture of what is happening now in Israel. also tells us what God has in store for the descendants of Esau — complete destruction.
